~Updates and Changes~

We have changed a few things since we first started.

Here is the short list...

1) The Blitzkrieg is now a monthly magazine instead of a bi-weekly. The reason for this change stems from the problem of moving new submissions to the archive/past issues area too soon. By going to a monthly format, it is easier to catagorize past submissions (by the month) and gives our regular writers and there new works twice the exposure time on the front page.

2) Previous Issues Index/Archives: This area has been the most troublesome to organize, but I think we have it nailed down at the moment. Please look through this area and feel free to send us any feedback!

3) News Wire: thanks to our friends at Tripod.com, we have been able to add a new feature to the Blitzkrieg, the news wire page. This page contains up to date news headlines, sport scores, lotto numbers and more...

4) Java Script Bullitin Board: I have decided to add a quick loading javascript billboard on the main page of the Blitzkrieg. This board will display current Blitzkrieg events and other information. The only drawback is that its javascript, thus some anchient web browsers, such as Netscape Navigator 2.0 and Internet Explorer 3.0, may have difficulties running this item. If this becomes a problem, please e-mail us at submit@blitzmagazine.zzn.com

5) The Blitzkrieg is now apart of the Internet Writer's Guild Web Ring: I'm not usually a big fan of webrings, but this one is great for looking at over 350 other writer's personal pages and other on-line e-zines dedicated to the world of writing.

6) We have decided to cancel our ONELIST Mailing list: Due to the complicated nature of this service, we have decided to cancel our account with the ONELIST. Sorry for any inconvience this may cause, but this service wasn't working out for us. Currently, the only active mailing list system is through our zap zone network e-mail accounts, (http://blitzmagazine.zzn.com). The only problem with this set up is that it requires that everyone who wants to join our mailing list will have to sign up for one of our free e-mail accounts first. We are in the process of adding a new mailing list service to our site (availible no later than March 2000).

~Letter from the Editor~

After weeks of upgrades and waiting, the February issue will be availible to the whole world at 8am on Monday, February 1, 2000. I would like to take the opertunity to say thank you to all of the wirters who have submitted stuff to us over the last four months. Without your submissions, we would never exsist. Together, we have the potential to create a place where anyone can submit their work and have other people acutally read their material. Again, we can not gaurentee a mass quanity of readers, but, with a new agressive advertising campaign starting up near our home base, Brockport New York, and with those who are cool enough to mention us in passing or by adding our link image to their website(s), the world is slowly, but surely, getting to know what we are trying to accomplish here. With a growing submission base, comes more exposure to our work(s).

To be honest, I never envisioned such a national submission draw. Origionally, the Blitzkrieg was supposed to serve student writers from the State University of New York at Brockport; mainly becuase trying to get exposure in any of the mediums at this college is difficult. It seems that only those who major in English, Communications/Journalism, or TV/Radio Broadcasting seem to get their voices heard and there words read, which doesn't boade well for those of us who love to write our feelings and/or stories. Granted, I am an English/Creative writing major at Brockport, but eversince I began my stay here back in 1994, I found that the best writers I have ever encountered are those who don't consider themselves writers, rather people who love to create textually.

These are the people who should be given an oppertunity to have their voices heard. I personally enjoy every poem, short story, and review that comes across my desk because I get to see topics from angles much different from those found in a class room run by a credited professor who has been writing and preaching the same style to their students for decades. I hope to keep hearing and reading from all those authors who have honored this Magazine by submitting there work(s) to us over the past few months. Please feel free to check out our website and submit something soon.

~Jason W. Olson, Editor In Chief~
