Autumn

breathless mornings
in the wavy autumn sun
we'd keep a quilt
in the trunk for
lying hand in hand
in the dry grass
just laughing and blowing
kisses to cars until our cheeks were sore
and our eyelashes glistened
and keeping each other's
noses warm until the light faded
