The Giver, The Taker

The trees flower, the trees dry
A child awakens
A child cries
She flowers with light
And through darkness, she dies

The flowers bloom, the flowers wilt
A woman a mother
New life, semi-sewn quilt
She blooms with child
And as child becomes mother, an old-mother wilts

The leaves green, the leaves brown
A boy to man
A man to town
And he rises with the green
And he falls for the crown

The birth and death of it all
From womb to cradle
From spring to fall
So nature gives life
So nature takes all
